No. 1

Although this design is interesting it is not a great use of space and also replaces all of the motels placed along the canal to the North of the site.

No. 2

This design isolates the community space from the mainland and similar to the first replaces all of the motels along the canal which ideally will be kept to prevent excessive damage to local business.

No. 3

The third design favours the commercial aspect of the design over the community, which although may be successful with relation to revenue of the area but would not achieve the sense of community that drives this project.
No. 4

Although this site is more successful in its approach to layout and does not replace all of the motels along the canal it does include a lot of things in a small area which would likely make the space feel overcrowded.

No. 5

This design spills into the next block which allows for a more efficient use of space but I still think there is too much being placed into a small area.

No. 6

This design I believe to be the most successful so far, however the commercial aspect of the design is still taking priority and everything is organised into islands which may not be neccesary.

No. 7

The iterations now begin to focus on the sense of community rather than commercial use and there is minimal effect to the motels and surrounding buildings of the site.

No. 8

Commercial buildings are brought back into the design but not to the great extent that they were in previous iterations.
The idea of an island is still prevalent but in future iterations maybe isolation from the road can be achieved in a less invasive way.

No. 9

Out of all the iterations I believe this to be the most successful, the overpowering commercial aspect of the site has been abandoned and the focus is now on the community areas. The site is also no longer an island but retains its relationship with the water.

FINAL ITERATION
1. One entrance placed at the point of the canal with the greatest width.
2. Access to main roads through Cape Coral.
3. Majority of surrounding motels are maintained, only one 12 room motel has needed to be demolished to make way for the entry canal into the
harbour.
4. Social spaces from the block are still maintained, including the church and the Ford's Garage at opposite ends of the site.
