CAPE CORAL SITE VISIT

DAMAGE
The damage done to Cape Coral is evident at every turn. Almost all homes and commercial buildings in the area had some form of damage to the roof and many were covered in tarp to protect the homes despite it being more than three months since the hurricane hit land.

INFRASTUCTURE
The infrastructure is basic and boring and offers no character to the area. Because Cape Coral was built reasonably quickly and cheaply the buildings offer little to be desired and focus primarily on function over form.

YACHT CLUB
The Cape Coral Yacht Club and beach was the social place of the area where many residents and visitors would collect and enjoy their time.

The Beach and Yacht Club have both been closed since Hurricane Ian meaning that a pivotal aspect of community is missing for the people of Cape Coral.

ARCHITECTURE OF FORT MYERS
Fort Myers grew organically over time and because of this the layout and infrastructure is more natural, no buildings look similar.

A key aspect of Old Downtown Fort Myers is the ability to walk, cars are not the main form of transport down the mainstreet.
